My Good Good Friend Has Fibro

Today, I'm a little sad, I was talking to my good good friend, whom I have been dear friends with for years. She was just recently diagnosed with fibromyalgia. She had many many questions and although she is struggling with the diagnosis, it has actually helped her move forward and put some of her other concerns to rest.

She has gone through the same diagnosis process and problems that a lot of us go through when becoming diagnosed with fibromyalgia. She went from doctor to doctor with all kinds of weird symptoms, always leaving with more questions than answers. She was becoming discouraged. She finally was able to get in with a good rheumatologist after a recommendation from her ob. He was able to go over her multiple symptoms and check her tender points and make the diagnosis.

Becoming diagnosed with fibromyalgia can be detrimental to youyou if you allow it to or it can empower you with the knowledge to feel better. Which are you going to choose? I'd love to hear your diagnosis story, or if you haven't been diagnosed I love to hear that as well.

  1. Lord,
    Grant me the serenity
to accept the things i cannot change,
the courage to change the things i can,
And the wisdom to hide the bodies of the doctors who told me
"You're Perfectly Fine, It's all in Your head"

  2. In January of 2007 I got a severe concussion while playing indoor soccer. Ever since then I experienced back, shoulder and neck pain. I blamed on the stress of finals as my freshman year of High School ended. But even after finals were over, and during our family trip to Disney, i still experienced muscle soreness. My mom took me to my doctor but she didn't think it was anything. I went to another doctor, and she diagnosed me with Fibromyalgia. I've been living with fibro for about 3 years now, I'm 17 and a senior in high school, and the chronic pain has not defeated me. I have eaten wheat-free since last thanksgiving i have felt a REMARKABLE difference. Although the back pain and fatigue are still there (weakened yes, but still present), my headaches and stomach aches have completely gone.
I also was diagnosed with bursitis. Which also effects my joints.

Sometimes I wonder what it would feel like to not have any pain, but it's impossible. I've come to accept the fact that I'll always feel a bit sore.

  3. Thank you so much for your comments, I am saddened to hear how young you are with the onset, I love your attitude and others can learn from your great choice to live rather than be defeated from this. I have played soccer my whole life and so in a way I feel like I can relate to you. However, i"m much older now, in my 30's.

Thank you again for posting your comment, it's inspiring! Hang in there. The elimination and gluten free diets help a lot of people, I would love for you to let me know how you progress.
